This was a surprise find. We ordered pizza and italian sub, both were very good. Can't wait to try the many steak sub options.
This is quite possibly the best restaurant to stop in for a bite and enjoy a nice sub or slice of pizza. The service is amazing, the food is out of this world and it has an amazing owner! PLEASE GIVE THIS PLACE A TRY!
The best NY style pizza outside of NYC. Sandwiches are excellent too. Service is excellent and food prep is fast. Decor is a early 2000s and needs refreshing.
This is such a great place! Great pizza at an amazing price. Cannot recommend them enough!
TLDR: Nightmare customer service experience. I had heard incredible things about the sandwiches here from people who used to go here all the time, and I was excited to finally give the Hot Italian sub a try! I called in my order, and there may have been a miscommunication about the toppings on the sandwich (the woman on the phone thought I didn’t want the lettuce, tomato, and onion that come on the sandwich and mistook my request for mustard on the side for a side of fried mushrooms - sometimes that can happen with phone calls so honestly no problem there). When I arrived to pick up my order, the gentleman at the front was able to assist me in fixing the mustard/mushroom mix-up, but I failed to check the sandwiches before leaving (and I should’ve probably known to do so given that I also work in food service). When I arrived home, I discovered the lack of condiments, and given the distance I had driven to drop by, I figured the sandwich would get cold if I drove back just for the condiments (if it were a cold sandwich, it would be far easier, but with a hot sandwich, it’s a little more difficult). I called and spoke with a man asking if they would be willing to remake the sandwiches if I brought the original ones back, and the woman who took my order took over the phone call and began to angrily admonish me for attempting to get free food from them. I immediately felt hurt that she would jump to a conclusion and assume the worst in me when there was just a miscommunication (after all, it wasn’t the only thing lost in translation over the phone). I get that customers aren’t easy to deal with (perhaps better than most given my current line of work), but I don’t think immediately resorting to hostility in a customer service setting is ever even remotely appropriate, no matter whether you’re a customer or a restaurant employee. Quite frankly, not only was my much-hyped meal ruined before I took a single bite, but I’m not comfortable with the idea of ever ordering from there again. This may have been the single worst customer service experience I’ve ever had, at least as a customer rather than as an employee. I can’t comment on the food because I don’t want my negative experience to affect my assessment of the meal quality as a whole (if you have a better experience than I did then perhaps the food would taste better). I don’t know, maybe I should have done a better job making sure my order requests were clear, but in no way is it ever acceptable for someone to get hostile with anyone else over what was just a simple misunderstanding. If they weren’t okay with remaking the items, they could have just said that in a professional manner rather than shouting over the phone. I certainly won’t be returning to Rocky’s ever again.
We would be honored! Please reach out and expect to be treated like the ROCKSTAR that you are! 🙂
